Ambassador Gao Yanping Visits Emek Hefer of Israel

On April 30th, Ambassador Gao Yanping and the Chinese Embassy staff including Deputy Chief of Mission and Counselor Shi Yong, Military Attaché Lin Li, and Counselor Han Jun among others paid a visit to Emek Hefer of Israel upon the invitation of Israel-China Friendship Society. The Emek Hefer Regional Council held a welcoming ceremony. Ambassador Gao, Rani Idan, Chairman of the Regional Council of Emek Hefer, and Mr. Teddy Kauffman, President of Israel-China Friendship Society, delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Ambassador Gao said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of China-Israel diplomatic relationship. The two decades have witnessed rapid and stable development of bilateral relationship and continuously deepened practical cooperation in all fields. The increasingly improved ties between the two nations have been bringing more benefits in terms of trade, investment and job opportunities. She is much impressed by the hospitality of the Israeli people towards Chinese people ever since she arrived in Israel eight months ago. With long-lasting friendship between Chinese and Jewish people transcending over a thousand years and the timely assistance Chinese people offered to Jewish people during the Holocaust, China and Israel have every reason to become friends and partners. She envisioned a bright and promising future of bilateral relations.

Chairman Idan shared with the audience in the speech his pleasant experience during the visit to China last year. He greatly admired and marveled at the phenomenal achievements that China had made, and stressed that the cooperation between Emek Hefer and its Chinese counterparts had been fruitful. Mr. Teddy Kauffman traced back to the WWII times when Jewish people found shelters in China from Nazi thanks to the selfless help of the Chinese people, and lived harmoniously with the Chinese. Israel-China Friendship Society would continue to make its contributions to the development of Israel-China relations.

The Embassy staff headed by Ambassador Gao watched short movie introducing Emek Hefer, and visited several sites in Emek Hefer including Maba'arot Kibbutz, Beit Herut Plant, Ecological Power Plant, and the Park of Orchids in Kibbutz Bohan with the escort of Mr. Idan, Mr. Eldad, Mr. Kauffman, and other Israeli friends. Over 20 members of Israel-China Friendship Society also joined the visit.

After the visit, Chairman Idan and President Kauffman hosted lunch for the Embassy staff. The Emek Hefer Children Choir performed famous traditional Chinese and Israeli songs like Jasmine Flowers, winning the thunderous applauses of the audience.
