Aron Jacob (Jacobsen), a merchant from Frederiksstad in Schleswig first got permission in 1799 settle live and work in Viborg, where he and some others were permitted to hold religious services in a rented room.
In 1807 he moved to Aalborg and together with the merchant Henrik Wulff Bendix he applied for permission to have a synagogue in Aalborg. However, at the same time Rafael Hartvig Cohn also living in Aalborg sent in a similar application. The chancellery would not decide in the matter before the two parties came to an agreement.
At that time there were only a few Jewish families in Aalborg, but the community grew fast and in 1834 there were 119 persons, in 1854 123 persons. In 1854 the beautiful synagogue in Aalborg was built and the "Jewish priest" - as he is called officially - Salomon Mielziner begins his 35 years long service for the community.
A decline set in - as in many other provincial towns - and from 1890 there were no more services held in the synagogue.

 In 1924 the building was donated to the city of Aalborg, which used it for the City Archives (Stadsarkivet) for about 20 years.

The 19. March 1945 the building was set aflame by some members of the "Schalburg Korps", and the former synagogue burned to the ground.

Koetan löytää kuvan  kauniiksi kerrotusta aiemmasta  Synagogarakennuksesta:

Judaism

Aalborg had a synagogue, built in 1854; and the Jewish rabbi Salomon Mielziner served it for 35 years.[129] Services were no longer offered after Mielziner died, and in 1924 the synagogue was donated to the city government, which began using it to store the city archives (Stadsarkivet).[129] It was burned down by the Schalburg Corps in April 1945 towards the end of World War II, destroying its centuries-old Torahs.[129][130] Anti-semitism continues to exist in Denmark, and in 1999, an unlicensed Nazi radio station began operating from a neo-Nazi stronghold in Fynen, Nørresundby, within Aalborg municipality.[131] The activity has been widely denounced with organized opposition in Aalborg and the rest of Denmark, and in February 1999, 12 anti-fascists were arrested for possession of explosives at their base in Fynen.[131]

Ruotsin kansallispäivänä

 Samuel Bagsterin  Daily Light kirjassa on tälle aamulle 6.6.   seuraava sana:

Herra, sinun Jumalasi, rakastaa sinua.  (Sef.3:17)

Olen  viime viikkoina katsonut hieman historiaa II maailmansodan aikana.

Valkoisten bussien kertomus on tunnettu kansainvälisesti.
Tanskan juutalaisten miltei totaali evakuointi Ruotsiin tiedetään.

Ruotsi on samoissa vaikeuksissa, koska osa kansaa on menettänyt toleranssin maahanmuuttajia , ihmisiä,  kohtaan.
Onhan pakolaistulvat tosi ongelma.

Slovakian juutalaisten historiasta

Tänään selasin vanhoja valokuvia ja niissä on kartat Slovakiasta 1938-9.
Mitä kartta merkitsi alueen juutalaiselle väestölle?

[By: Ariel Scheib]
Jews have lived in the Slovakian region since the 11th century. Today, the Jewish population of Slovakia is approximately 2,600 people.

World War II & The Holocaust

Before World War II, 135,000 Jews lived in Slovakia; 5,000 of whom immigrated before the war. Under the protection of Nazi Germany, Slovakia proclaimed its independence in March 1939. The country came under the control of an extremely religious and right-wing party, the Hlinka (Slovak) Peoples’ party, under the leadership of Father Jozef Tiso, a Catholic priest. After its establishment, the Slovakian government approached the “Jewish Question” as one of their first public issues.
The first anti-Jewish law was passed in Slovakia on April 18, 1939. A few days later, on April 24, Jews were excluded from all government positions and service. On September 19, 1939, all Jews were expelled from the military. Many more discrimination laws followed, including children being ousted from school and Jews being excluded from public recreational facilities. By 1940, more than 6,000 Jews emigrated both legally and illegally. The Slovakian government passed a law that permitted it to take over control of all major Jewish businesses. These laws were supported by the majority of Slovakians.
In a 1940 meeting between German and Slovakian officials, Germany dictated new changes within the Slovakian government to make the country more dependent. During this period, Jews lost many more privileges, including the right to a car or gun. In August 1940 another decree was issued that required every Jew to register with the government and state their financial status.
On September 9, 1941, Jews were met with a proclamation of 270 articles, which included the wearing of a Yellow Star of David and forced labor. Soon after, Hungary and the Slovakian government began deporting the Jews to concentration camps, specifically
Auschwitz. By 1942, nearly three-fourths of the Slovakian Jewry had been exterminated. In April 1944, after several months of calm, deportations resumed during the Slovakian resistance, in which numerous Jews partook.
Following the Holocaust, only 25,000 Jews survived and many survivors decided to emigrate. Those Jews who did remain worked diligently to rebuild the devastated Jewish community.

There are more than 100 synagogue buildings and nearly 700 Jewish cemeteries scattered across Slovakia. There are also numerous Jewish cultural places in Slovakia to visit, including the Underground Mausoleum. This museum contains the graves of 18 famous rabbis together with Chatam Sofer, who founded a rabbinical seminary. About 200 synagogues and 620 Jewish cemeteries remain in Slovakia, symbolizing the once thriving community that flourished in the area.

In 2002, both the Jewish cemeteries in Levice and Zvolen were damaged and historic tombstones smashed. Since 2003, there has been a rise in popularity among Slovaks for right-wing extremism, incorporating neo-Nazism and fascism. In April 2003, the Jewish cemetery in Kosice was vandalized causing $35,000 in damage.

 In 2007, Slovakia's foremost Jewish scholar Maros Borsky formally launched the Slovak Jewish Heritage Route, a tourist and educational trail that links two dozen key sites in all eight regions of the country.  Included on the Heritage Route are synagogues, Jewish cemeteries, Jewish museums and Holocaust memorials. "The only way to preserve these buildings is to find a different use for them, predominantly and preferably for cultural purposes," says Borsky.  Sites on the trail include places within day-trip distance from Bratislava: Malacky, Stupava, Trnava, Samorin, Trencin, Nitra, Komarno, Zvolen, Sahy, Kosice, Presov, Bardejov and Spisske Nova Ves.
A neo-Nazi party won seats in Slovakia's parliamen
 during the March 2016 elections, much to the dismay of Slovakian leaders. The neo-Nazi “People's Party - Our Slovakia,” received 8% of the total vote, enough to grant the party 14 seats in the Slovak National Council, the country's parliamentary body. Marian Kotleba, the chairman of the People's Party - Our Slovakia, had previously led another neo-Nazi political party named Slovak Togetherness - National Party, that has been banned from participation in the Slovak political system. Slovakia's Foreign Minister, Miroslav Lajcak, stated after the election that “we have elected a fascist to Parliament.”

Psalms Chapter 132

1 A Song of Ascents. {N}
LORD, remember unto David all his affliction;
2 How he swore unto the LORD, and vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:
ג  אִם-אָבֹא, בְּאֹהֶל בֵּיתִי;    אִם-אֶעֱלֶה, עַל-עֶרֶשׂ יְצוּעָי. 3 'Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor go up into the bed that is spread for me;
ד  אִם אֶתֵּן שְׁנַת לְעֵינָי;    לְעַפְעַפַּי תְּנוּמָה. 4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, nor slumber to mine eyelids;
5 Until I find out a place for the LORD, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.'
6 Lo, we heard of it as being in Ephrath; we found it in the field of the wood.
7 Let us go into His dwelling-place; let us worship at His footstool.
8 Arise, O LORD, unto Thy resting-place; Thou, and the ark of Thy strength.
9 Let Thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let Thy saints shout for joy.
10 For Thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of Thine anointed.
11 The LORD swore unto David in truth; He will not turn back from it: {N}
'Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12 If thy children keep My covenant and My testimony that I shall teach them, {N}
their children also for ever shall sit upon thy throne.'
13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for His habitation:
14 'This is My resting-place for ever; here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will give her needy bread in plenty.
16 Her priests also will I clothe with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17 There will I make a horn to shoot up unto David, there have I ordered a lamp for Mine anointed.
יח  אוֹיְבָיו, אַלְבִּישׁ בֹּשֶׁת;    וְעָלָיו, יָצִיץ נִזְרוֹ. 18 His enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown shine.' {P}

Psalmi 40
1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David.

Psalmi 80
1 For the Leader; upon Shoshannim. A testimony. A Psalm of Asaph.
 2 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; {N}
Thou that art enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
3 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Thy might, {N}
and come to save us.
 4 O God, restore us; and cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

Psalmi 120

1 A Song of Ascents. {N}
In my distress I called unto the LORD, and He answered me.
2 O LORD, deliver my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.3 What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, thou deceitful tongue?4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of broom.5 Woe is me, that I sojourn with Meshech, that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar!6 My soul hath full long had her dwelling with him that hateth peace.7 I am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war. {P}
